How to add custom domain to Blogger

After starting a blog on BlogSpot.com, we will get a domain name like sample.blogspot.com and it is a free domain name. We can add a custom domain instead of sample.blogspot.com. A good example is sample.com which is a custom domain name. Below are the steps to add a custom domain to blogger. We can purchase a domain from Godaddy.com

Step 1: Firstly, we want to purchase a domain. After that we want to setup a third party URL in blogger platform. For that we want to follow the below steps.

Step 2:  Sign in to blogger and go to the settings - Basic. There we can see the blog address as shown in figure below.


Step 3: Click on the third party URL link and add the custom domain we purchased in it as shown in figure. Then save it. If it is not saved and shows some errors, then go to step 4.


Step 4: We can see an error "we have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12." Inorder to solve that problem, we want to locate the DNS settings and to enter the below CNAMEs as shown in figure. For that we want to sign in the domain registrars website and enter those CNAMEs in it.


Step 5:  Go to domain  management and add the CNAME in it. For that we want to enter "www"
in label "host" and enter "ghs.google.com" in label "points to ". Save it 
Step 6:  Once again enter the CNAME with "xbhzxj7e22pn" in host and  "gv-q4ybzivyc7wzsn.dv.googlehosted.com" in "points to ". save it

Step 7:  In the A record,  we want to enter four IPs. The IPs are as follows
216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21
Then save it . The screen shot of  adding A record is shown below.


Step 8: Go to blogger and enter the domain in the blog address. If there shows an error, then go to step 9.

Step 9: We want to verify the ownership of the domain with a TXT record through the google webmaster tools. In the process, we will get a TXT value. Copy that TXT value and paste it in the records of DNS management.


Step 10:  Go to webmaster tool and verify the ownership. That's it

Step 11:  Go to blog and enter the custom domain in the blog address then save it.

Step 12 : Wait for 24 hours to 48 hours for the old blog address to redirect to new custom domain. That's it.

Search engines are used to find any queries  for the searchers , the best content where placed on top of the page it is very useful for the searchers. But in directories, the websites are listed based on categories. We can find a particular website by clicking on the category we want.

Major Search Engines and Directories

The Major search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, and YouTube. The popular directories are Yahoo Directory and D Moz.

Google Page Rank

Page rank is introduced by google. It is named after one of the founder of google, larry page. It is for calculating the importance of a webpage. It is determined by checking the number of quality back links to a page. The page rank score starts from 0 to 10.  The google will periodically update the page rank. The highest page rank is 10 and the lowest rank is 0.  

How the Search Engine Works

The search engine works on three steps that is,

Crawling
It is a process of check the new and updated content by using the robots, robots is otherwise known as spiders.
Indexing
During indexing , the google will store the crawled content in its database.
Ranking
Ordering of search results by relevance is known as ranking.

Creating Robots File

It is used to inform the search engines whether to index or no index the webpages.
